Take Boarderlands or Crackdown for example, they're much better games because of the co op.

Co op never ruins a game, it only adds to the fun. It's a bummer though, the game could use a few online modes. I'd much rather have a great single player game with no multiplayer than a single player game with some shit dangling on the sides of it. however 'unnecessary' " A game with a great single player component can sometimes leave an overall negative imprint just because of a bad multiplayer component. arena style deathmatch like 'nail' said or something, i'm not sure theres any shooter that wouldn't benefit on some level from it. it just doesn't fit in any way shape or form. tacked on? sure.but really, mass effect co-op would be like trying to put the new Mafia game online or alan wake. face it, these components hardly effect an already finished single player product, especially when they're built with things already developed for it. hell if it wasn't for the crippling lag, i'd say the darkness and dark sector are quite a romp to play against others. is crackdown 2 'auto aim and-pull' deathmatch going to be necessary? was gta's? no, but they certainly don't hurt. Although when I think about it, BioShock 2 will probably suffer more from not having been made with Ken Levine(creative director of BioShock) than anything else- "sure its unnecessary. Without the inclusion of MP, it could've been out sooner and although I know it was developed by seperate teams, 2K Marin could've used the time to improve the SP game. It's unnecessary in a game that relies on atmosphere and characters. Seriously though, it kinda looks like a weird Team Fortress 2.
