There’s no easy way to say this, but today we are overstaffed. We’ve carefully assessed all teams in the company in terms of their expected contribution to the delivery of our strategy. It simply doesn’t make sense to have so many staff on the books, and in the words of Adam Kicinski, CEO of CD Projekt, they’re overstaffed. In the organisational update, it was explained that there’s a desire within CD Projekt Red to become more leaner – and more agile. This is the third round of layoffs to occur within CDPR since the start of the year, with around sixty team members being dismissed in May across two separate windows.
It was said that after a careful assessment, around 100 members of staff will be made redundant over the next few months – but CDPR has stressed that they’re giving team members time to adjust and offering them a ‘comprehensive severance package’. In a company update published on the CDPR website today, it was revealed that almost 10% of the firm’s employees will be laid off due to ‘overstaffing’.
